Reading
1. Read chapters 10 – 22 in Holes
2. * Complete the vocabulary worksheet.
3. Be thinking about your choice for end-of-the-book project.
4. * Complete the comprehension questions.
Writing
1. * This week you will write your first paragraph: Lesson 1B: Observing an Object.
Use your “Observing an Object” worksheet to take notes on an object around your house. The object must be small enough for you to hold. Follow the directions on p. 1-8.
2. *Write your Sloppy Copy. It doesn’t have to be pretty!
3. * Use your Student Writing Skills checklist to revise your Sloppy Copy. This is called your “First Revision”. I need to see evidence that you are editing and making changes to your work. Follow the directions carefully.
4. * Turn in your papers, stapled in this order: Brainstorming worksheet on the bottom, “sloppy copy” on top of that, neatly rewritten copy next, Student Writing Skills Checklist on the very top. We will not be using the Teacher Writing Skills Checklist. You can leave that one in your book.

5. Complete the comprehension questions below. Use complete sentences to answer them. You do not have to recopy the question on your own paper. You do need to include the important part of the question in your answer. Example: How did Cinderella get to the ball? Cinderella rode to the ball in a carriage made from a pumpkin.
